Basic First Aid & Emergency Response

Every caregiver must be prepared for a medical emergency. Learn to recognise and respond to choking, falls, bleeding, stroke, and cardiac emergencies using the FAST and DRABC frameworks, with CPR theory and professional incident reporting.

In caregiving, emergencies can occur at any moment without warning. Your ability to recognise a medical emergency and respond correctly in the critical first minutes can be the difference between life and death, or between recovery and permanent disability. This course equips every caregiver with the essential knowledge needed to respond confidently and correctly to the most common medical emergencies encountered in caregiving settings. You will learn scene safety checks, primary patient assessment, choking response, fall management, severe bleeding control, and stroke recognition using the FAST test. The course also covers CPR at a theoretical level and provides comprehensive guidance on accurate emergency documentation. This course should be followed by certified hands-on first aid practical training.
